Comparing Groups in Maths

So much of our learning in Mathematics is hands on and practical, all Maths does not come out of the end of a pencil! We compared groups and are now learning how to use the <, > and = symbols. Before writing our own number sentences we focuses on the ‘real maths’ with objects and pictorial representations. Can you see how we used a game based approach and worked closely with our talk partners to develop mathematical language?

Phonic Firework Fun

We have been learning about bonfire night and exploring related art activities. Listening to Music for the Royal Fireworks we made large scale art works. We linked the art to language development by describing the noises and colours. Later in Phonics we added written language, fizz, whizz, bang, crash, whoosh!

Scientists at Work

Having designed and built bus shelters Oak Class used their recent work on properties of materials to decide on a suitable roofing material , we tested our predictions and just before October half term enjoyed a water and fun filled Science afternoon. We developed our scientific thinking and expanded our vocabulary as we predicted, hypothesised and tested.
